MWG OPEN DAY 2009

August 15th saw our club’s second Open Day at the Port Erin Scout Hall. There were four participation games along with displays of our other collections and we were joined by members of the Isle of Man Go club.

About thirty or more members of the public joined us throughout the day, admiring our figures and models and asking about the hobby.

The World War 1 air game proved most popular and hardly stopped for the six hours we were open. The Samurai game also proved a success, Michael’s well-painted figures and village looking very impressive. The Sci-fi game pitted off-duty Space Marines enjoying some R&R against an invasion of various Bugs. This seemed especially popular with the younger members & visitors. Our final game was a Napoleonic cavalry charge which always looks colourful and impressive.

The Go club games seemed a great success also with members and visitors alike trying out something new. A visit from the press resulted in a good report and a couple of photos in the local paper. So all in all a hectic day, enjoyed by all who attended.

Now to start planning for next year…
