OPEN DAY 2010

The club’s 2010 Open Day got off to a brisk start with a number of new faces coming through the door as we opened for business. From then on we were kept busy for the whole day running and playing a number of games and generally meeting various members of the public.

Participation games included:

  • Bog-A-Ten which proved popular with the younger members and visitors. I’d especially like to thank one of our visitors, Peter, who took over and ran the second game of the day after just having played in the first.
  • The Thirteenth Warrior, Dark Age skirmish game, also proved popular with participants playing the warring factions of the climactic battle scene from the eponymous movie.
  • A SF game pitted player-controlled armed civilians against hordes of alien bugs.
  • A World War II game saw players attempting to fight through ruined city streets to capture a hotel building in the face of Russian defenders.
  • Our junior members fought out an ancient’s battle with 6mm scale figures. Proving you don’t have to spend a fortune to have a good wargame.
  • A group of visitors played out a Lord of the Rings battle. With both sides vying for the control of a bridge.

Overall it was a very successful day enjoyed by visitors and members alike. We look forward to seeing our visitors at any forthcoming games in the near future. Thanks to all our members and friends who helped make it such a success.
